So last weekend took a trip to Bristol Zoo with my sister and had a fun day out. The day was actually longer than I expected thanks to my sister deciding we should listen to all the talks at the zoo. Not complaining since it was both informative and entertaining in a number of ways. Highlights for me would be Gorilla feed and talk with the silverback showing off his dexterity and co-ordination by plucking food out of the air that was thrown into the enclosure.
There were a few new enclosures since my last visit two years ago including a lemur enclosure that you could walk through under keeper supervision and a new Spider Monkey enclosure that got a few laughs from passers by. Se the monkeys seemed to have worked out a game of hiding out of view then jumping into view when enough people got close enough. The only difference was, unlike with regular spiders people thought this trick was cute and did not scream or jump with fright.
We also had fun watching the fur seal feed and talk; its amazing how big they are up close and its very surreal seeing such a large animal spin around on one flipper. I was also finally able to get some good pictures of the lions.
In more recent news the whole family managed quite literally to pick a bumper crop of damsons near the river behind the house. More than we really know what to do with so mum has hit on the idea of making jam. Never made jam myself so it should be a fun learning experience and tasty to Still while I like a nice bit of damson pie I would have enjoyed the prospect of strawberry jam a little more.
In other news Halloween Horror Nights is on the horizon and sadly once again I wont be able to go; a combination general life and the fact it slipped my mind The fact its also quite expensive is another factor but not one to wine about; I just wish there more local events this side of the world that celebrate Halloween to such a fun and high octane level. Also while I could go by myself I think it would be safer and more enjoyable to go with friends. Perhaps one day I will get to go to an event
This year's HHN looks like its going to be very intense and mindblowing with IP's like American Horror Story and Krampus being thrown into the mix alongside a lot of original houses and scare zones. I am especially curious about the Tomb of the Ancients and Ghost Town: The Curse of Lightning Gulch houses. After the last few years it would be cool to see a few more original houses and if Madness of Poe taught me anything HHN is good with original content.
On the topic of the IP'S and for a bit of fun I decided to list a few I think they would make good haunted houses or scare zones for HHN. Just one note of importance; the list is in no special order. So lets get this started then
1. Until Dawn
2. The Strain
3. The Relic
4. Resident Evil Extinction
5. Silence in the Libary
6. Eldritch Moon
10. Darkest Dungeon
